5. "Steve Holt!"
Much to George Michael's annoyance, Steve Holt is the object of his cousin Maeby's affections, despite the fact that the guy is frequently described as being "a moron jock" by anybody who knows him. Steve Holt pops up now and again to accidentally make life hellish for George Michael, and is renowed for taking pleasure in shouting his own name out loud and raising his arms up into the air to emphasis that something is going well for him. Now and again, other characters will shout Steve Holt (including the show's narrator) to make a Steve Holt related point. Nobody really knows why this is funny, but it is, and it's become one of the show's most recognisable and best-known running gags. Is it me or does Steve Holt feel like the perfect name for a moron jock? Probably why it feels so good to shout, then. Steve Holt!
