6. Buster's Hand

Poor Buster. If he isn't being manipulated by his borderline evil mother, he's getting his hand bitten off by a loose seal. This is, not surprisingly, one of the show's most absurd and surreal running jokes, and that's saying something - the amount of ways that the writers managed to shoe-horn in the phrase "loose seal" (to match up with the name "Lucille," of course) is the stuff of twisted genius. It's not just those wordy references that make Buster's loss so funny, though: it's the dozens and dozens of scattered references to his unfortunate position that you can find cleverly buried in the show. At one point, for example, Buster sits on a bench and obscures an army recruitment ad, which then reads "Arm off." "I'm a monster!" Buster yells every time something hand-related goes wrong. And things
do go wrong.
