12. All The Donald Trump Gags

Season 4 of course saw George Sr. and Lucille attempt to build a wall to keep Mexican illegal immigrants out of the U.S., which a few years later became a painful reality when President Donald Trump actually attempted to do the very same thing.

The fifth season features a few not-remotely-subtle allusions to this parallel, beginning with Lucille watching Trump's original wall announcement on TV, and while initially frustrated that he stole her idea, when Trump says he's going to make Mexico pay for the wall, she adds, "That is a clever twist."

That's just the start, though: when Lindsay (Portia de Rossi) runs for Congress, Maeby attempts to sabotage her campaign, resulting in a few gaffes with obvious parallels to Trump. She mocks a reporter with a speech problem and has a hot mic flub where she says, "I wouldn't mind grabbing him by the tush."

Hurwitz actually said that the parallels between the Bluths and the Trumps are inherently strong enough that he had to cut some of the gags for fear they were too on-the-nose.
