Arrow: 10 Biggest Questions We Have For Season 8
2. Is Oliver Destined To Take Barry's Place In The Crisis?
When Oliver found out that Barry and Kara were going to die during The Monitor's Elseworlds test, he made a deal with the other-worldly being that would allow both of them to survive - as long as he offered him something in exchange. Though the specifics of the deal weren't revealed at the time, the Season 7 finale shed some light on the matter, confirming fans' suspicions that the Emerald Archer was destined to die during the Crisis.
The most interesting aspect about all of this is that it wasn't always supposed to go down this way. While The Monitor claimed that Oliver's passing can not be prevented, the fact of that matter is that this seemingly unavoidable fate was only the result of that deal.
Remember, ever since The Flash arrived on our screens, we've all been told that the Scarlet Speedster is destined to vanish in the Crisis - a move that will ultimately save everyone and bring the game-changing event to an end once and for all.
Now, given that this show isn't actually coming to an end in the near-future (while Arrow is), it's going to need its protagonist for a little longer. Thus, it's looking likely that Oliver's deal has resulted in a major change to the timeline that will see him taking Barry's place in the Crisis and ultimately sacrificing himself to save the multiverse.
