Arrow: 10 Things Season 4 Has Got Horribly Wrong (So Far)
9. Introducing Magic
Thanks to Ras al Ghul and the Lazarus Pit last year, Arrow dipped its toe into the world of magic but this year the subject has earned a much more devoted focus. On the positive side of things, this new element has greatly expanded Olivers world and allowed for a dynamic new threat, but its also brought a lot of problems with it. The real issue is the fact that flashback Ollie was not only aware of magics existence but had a friend in John Constantine who was an exceptionally powerful user. For Oliver to only now decide that Constantine could be of help is pretty troubling. Did Oliver not think to call upon him when the city was nearly taken over by both Malcolm and Slade? Or how about last year when Thea was dying? Theres so many other instances more significant that Sara being crazy that ought to have caused Constantines involvement. Obviously the writers didnt know back in Season 1 that magic was going to be a part of Arrows world, but by introducing it in the past, it retroactively calls into question why Oliver had never used it again until now.
