Arrow: 4 Characters That Absolutely Cannot Die (And 4 That Can)

3. William Clayton

Who He Is: William Clayton is Oliver€™s biological son with Samantha Clayton. Approximately nine-years-old by Oliver€™s estimation, William appears to be a healthy and happy boy who totally doesn€™t need to move to Star City because of an untimely death for his mom. Why He Can Die: Cruel as it may seem, Oliver€™s kid is way more expendable than Oliver€™s baby mama. William dying would remove the possibility of the show coming to a full halt so that Oliver could play dad to a pre-teen and add a depth of tragedy that even those viewers most frustrated by the baby mama drama would have to feel. Oliver would quite understandably be upset by William€™s death despite not really knowing him, and it would make a certain degree of sense for Barry to show up at the cemetery. Arrow always gets pretty dark toward the end of the season; William dying could definitely work by the time of the flashforward. There is the question of whether or not Oliver could recover from the death of his child at the hands of his latest nemesis, but that question is not nearly enough to mark William as safe.
