Arrow: 6 Things That "Left Behind" Did Right (And 4 It Didn't)

3. Oliver's Fate

The death of Oliver Queen - masterfully handled in The Climb in December - has been the spectre of suspense hanging over the hiatus. Once you got over the initial shock of seeing our hero run through with a sword and then kicked off of a cliff, the impossibility of any show permanently killing off its titular character in the middle of a season became apparent. The question that lingered was of just when Oliver€™s resurrection would occur. Surprisingly, it occurred almost immediately. The show sacrificed the mystery of what befell Oliver€™s body as well as the possibility of a surprise reappearance down the line in Starling, and you hardly had time to miss him. Nevertheless, the speed with which Oliver was presented as living and breathing was a smart move for the show. Even tiny tastes and teases of him in recovery may be enough to sustain doubtful fans during upcoming episodes. You may have known that the rules of television meant that Oliver Queen was not going to be staying dead, but seeing him awaken was a relief.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
