Arrow: 6 Ups And 5 Downs From The Season 4 Premiere 'Green Arrow'

9. Up - Quentin Lance's Snarkiness

Oliver Arrow Season 4
The CW

Detective Quentin Lance hasn't always had the easiest time of things on the show, positioned as a good guy but one who feels a lot of resentment to Oliver, and has had to go through losing one of his daughters multiple times, with a major strain placed on his relationship with the other. He's a big character, but remains the only one to really exist outside of Team Arrow.

However, one thing he has always been on hand for is a quip or a snarky remark, which often contains an air of meta-humour and positions him as the audience surrogate. If there's something the viewers might have seen or will be thinking, he's the most likely to say it on the show - as evidenced by his "city's under attack, must be May" line in the season 3 finale.

He's back at it again this episode, with a great comment about how Star City could maybe have its own Flash Day, delivered with all the cutting sarcasm you'd expect, and then later coming out with a verbal takedown of Oliver. It's good to have you back, Detective.
