Arrow: 7 Dumbest Plots Of The Series So Far

2. Keeping Malcolm Merlyn

Malcolm Merlyn was a great big bad to kick off Arrow. He was a villain who was fun to hate and whose motivation made a lot of sense in a super twisted way until his €œdeath€ at the end of Season 1. Then, Malcolm Merlyn came back, and it€™s all gone downhill from there. The show has gone out of its way to write Malcolm as a man deserving of mercy and even something of a frenemy to Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow just because he€™s Thea€™s biological dad. If Malcolm was going to come back as a regular, he needed to be treated like a villain for his past crimes. Instead, Oliver seems like a guy who doesn€™t learn his lessons and can€™t remember that there€™s a difference between fatherhood and incidental sperm donation. The good guys not even trying to lock him up has always been silly. The Magician may not believe that any prison can hold him, but it would have been hard for him to escape with two broken legs.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
