The island didnt make an appearance in this episode; instead we visit a day before the Queens Gambit went down. The flashback starts seven years ago with a troubled Ollie who reveals to his Mother hes cheated on Laurel and got a girl pregnant. The arc follows Moiras attempts to buy off the Mother of Ollies illegitimate child, managing to convince her to tell Ollie she lost the baby and move away to Central City. Its one of the first moments that Ollies playboy lifestyle begins to crack as hes left to ponder the consequences of his actions. Stephen Amell does a fine job playing three versions of Ollie throughout the show, the playboy carelessly unaware of a future before him, the marooned islander quickly losing his humanity and his current form; the Arrow. This flashback marked one of the very first steps in Ollie becoming the man he is now. The writers wouldnt bother with an event like this unless we were to revisit it in the future. One possibility is Slade knows and ends up taking Ollies illegitimate child hostage or they make an appearance in later seasons, although it is possible that the child is Connor Hawke, Oliver Queens son from the comics who takes up the mantle of Green Arrow. Since Connor (yes he hasnt been officially named yet but why not!) moved to Central City, his first appearance could be in Flash rather than Arrow. It plants the seeds for an inevitable crossover which fans will be craving for the second the pilot airs.
