2. Stephen Amell / Oliver Queen
Prior to being signed on as Arrow, Stephen Amell wasn't well known but his resume was impressive with guest stints on hit shows such as The Vampire Diaries, New Girl and Private Practise. However, Arrow marks the first occasion that Amell has ever been in a leading role, and the same can be said for many of the cast on the set of the Arrow. However, it is Amell that stands above as the main character of the show his ability to be the most visible face is sure to take some time to grow into. While Amell has done incredibly well to date playing the handsome playboy billionaire by day, and tormented vigilante superhero by night. His ability to make these characteristics so believable in his performance suggests that Amell is an incredibly talented actor. The best part about this is that season two will allow for Amell to have learnt from the experiences of the first season and come back to the second season, and hopefully future seasons to follow, bringing with him more and more experience to the role. If you'll permit me to just make one more Batman comparison, when Bale was first recruited to be in Nolan's Batman Begins, Bale had already proved his acting prowess in American Psycho, and the Machinist, and just prior to filming Batman Begins, Bale had voiced the lead character of Howl in the anime "Howl's Moving Castle". Clearly Bale had more experience in not just acting, but as playing the lead, and was also surrounded by highly regarded cast members as he was joined by Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Katie Holmes and Liam Neeson. The Batman Cast in their own rights would be considered a superstar cast and it is unfair to regard the cast of Arrow in the same vein, however, with the right writing and direction which I believe the show is heading in, the cast can produce work that is just as good as the Batman series and there is a room for growth which can one day catapult Amell and his co-stars to be held in the same regards as Christian Bale and his co-stars.
