Arrow Season 3: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

5. Brandon Routh As The Atom

Arrow has done a fine job with bringing DC Comics characters into the fold, particularly when it comes to its villains. Things will ramp up even more in season three, as not only will The Flash get his own spinoff, but we'll start seeing more big names join the ranks of both shows. Arrow in particular is going big with a villain like Ra's al Ghul, and has set their sights on another Justice League hero as well. Enter former Man of Steel Brandon Routh, who starred in the ill-fated Superman Returns. While not a particularly bad superhero film, Superman Returns failed to reinvigorate excitement for the Big Blue Boyscout and didn't exactly stand out amongst the other entries in the superhero genre. Routh was good in the role though, and is getting another shot at red and blue spandex this year as he will play Ray Palmer, a.k.a. The Atom, on Arrow. Not only is it cool to see a DC movie actor on a DC TV show (something Smallville excelled at constantly over the years), but Routh is honestly a great fit for the character. His appearance and subsequent possible romance with Felicity should throw a big wrench into Oliver's life this season, and his eventual appearance as The Atom is among the most exciting things the series has promised thus far. We don't NEED the CW shows to tie into the Justice League films, because there's a new JLA assembling on TV as we speak.
