The details of his life and agenda may be sketchy thus far, but executive producer Marc Guggenheim has confirmed that Damien Darhk will be bringing an element of magic to Arrow.

After two and a half seasons of a show more or less grounded in realism, the pool of resurrection juice in Nanda Parbat in the second half of Season 3 brought an element of magic that even good old-fashioned comic pseudoscience couldn’t explain away. The fantastical properties of the Lazarus Pit far eclipsed the conveniences of the Mirakuru arc and even the metahuman shenanigans over on The Flash.

According to Guggenheim, the Lazarus Pits were only the first glimpse of this new frontier. There’s no telling how the characters will react to the unexpected twist, but star Stephen Amell hinted that Oliver may not be entirely shocked by any mystical goings-on thanks to events of the flashbacks that are thus far shrouded in secrecy.
