Arrow Season 4: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Lost In The Flood'

4. Great Set Up Work

Arguably, what Lost in the Flood did best was how it served as a great set up episode for the season finale.

Certain shows often take the route of having all of the big stuff happen in a season’s penultimate episode ahead of then seeing how things lie in the finale ahead of what’s to come in the next season. With Lost in the Flood, however, Arrow decided to use this episode to position the action for what promises to be an explosive finale.

We’ve got Ruve Adams/Darhk now dead, which in turn means Damien Darhk is majorly pissed off and even more intent on erasing mankind – as he himself puts it, “Let it all burn” – whilst the Green Arrow and Spartan are still trying to get Thea out of her Truman Show experience, Felicity and her parents have Darhk at their doorstep, and there’s still resolution needed for the island flashbacks. Oh, and there is still Malcolm Merlyn out there, so he’s sure to pop up like the cockroach that he is.

A good finale can often make or break a season of TV, and that is the same with Arrow’s fourth season. Whilst large parts of this current season have been great, there have been a few dumps in the road for the Master Bowman and Co. along the way. By delivering a pulsating, impactful finale, a lot of the problems of Season 4 will be overlooked or forgotten about it, and Lost in the Flood did a great job of putting the pieces in place for what should hopefully be a truly memorable send-off for the season.
