Arrow Season 4: 8 Ways It’ll Be A Totally Different Show This Time
7. A Different Sort Of Villain
One of the ways Arrow's third season was a little bit of a disappointment was in the main villain, Ra's al Ghul, who neither managed to live up to that name nor the fantastic big bads who had came before him. However, as part of the season finale, we did get the tease of the overarching enemy for season 4: Damien Darhk.
A former member of the League, who was in the running to become Ra's al Ghul, he left when he wasn't selected, and took with him waters from the Lazarus Pit and a number of loyal followers. Now he'll be arriving to cause a whole lot of trouble for Team Arrow, and will be quite different to Ra's, Deathstroke, and Malcolm Merlyn.
He's going to be extremely intelligent for a start, with brains to rival Felicity (and there could be more of a connection there if theories are to be believed). But more than that is the fact that he'll be a completely evil character. Rather than having some sort of reasoning behind his misdeeds, as the other three did, he'll be doing "the wrong things for the wrong reasons."
Played by Neal McDonough, who's making the switch from Marvel to DC after playing Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America and Agent Carter, he will be an extremely dangerous foe for the team, and the first ever "truly malevolent" villain. Another difference is that he'll be introduced straightaway, rather than having to wait for a grand unveiling later on in the season.
