After the misery of Season 3, Arrow has made some considerable strides in its efforts to be lighter this year. Granted, there's still death, violence, threats, and chaos, but at least now the heroes will crack the occasional smile, and maybe even a joke. It's not at the levels of The Flash, but nor should it be. Arrow, after all, is something else. Aside from the tone, this season has done a lot of other things really well. It's established Thea as a proper member of Team Arrow, gave us some OG action, brought Diggle back to the fore, and thankfully has restored Felicity to being the awesome character of Season 1 and 2, instead of simply being the love interest of last year. As she pointed out, she always was badass. Best of all, though, has been the addition of Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk. Charming and menacing in equal measure, and always the most captivating presence on screen whenever he appears, McDonough and the writers have taken a minor comic book character and turned him into one of the best villains on TV at the moment. He's already shown us glimpses of his power, and you'd imagine there's far more to come. Once the Flash/Arrow crossover episode is out of the way, we're into the mid-season finale, which is going to have a lot of work to do, continuing the plots of his year so far and setting things up nicely for the comeback in 2016. Based on their history of mid-season finales, they should have no problems pulling it off once again, but including some of these would certainly help.
