Arrow Season 4: Things That Need To Happen Before The Mid-Season Break

6. Start To Make Laurel A Better, More Consistent Character

Ah, Laurel Lance. Arrow's problem character. She was ok at best during Season 1, and then in Season 2 she became one of the most hated characters on TV. She was, quite simply, a mess. Things picked up towards the end of Season 3, as she rapidly became Black Canary, and the path was clear for her to actually become a good character and an important member of Team Arrow. Then this season happened. Having spent so much of last year dealing with the grief over Sara's death, including some rather touching moments that developed the character properly, Laurel reverted this season when she found out the Lazarus Pit can bring people back, and despite everyone warning against it - even Damien Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn said it was a bad idea! - she went ahead and did it anyway, then acted surprised when Sara came back 'different'. After initially being the one who was pleading for patience with Sara, while keeping her chained up in her basement (naturally), she later pulled a gun on her sister herself. I believe Laurel can be a good character, but they really need to have her acting more consistently, and less selfishly.
