Although not the sole cause of Arrow's demise, the show's decline and that of the flashbacks has gone hand-in-hand. Previously a compelling story that tied itself into the present day, either filling in narrative gaps or offering a parallel between past and present Oliver, now it just takes up space in an episode; there's been little meat to the story for two years, and no reason to really care.

That could change in Season 5, as the flashbacks finally head to Russia. The mystery of Oliver's time in the Bratva, the Russian mob, has been something viewers have had to speculate over since Season 2. Now, we're getting some answers. On top of that, Dolph Lundgren is going to be the Big Bad of the past, and if that can't save them, nothing will.

This is said to be the last year of flashbacks, at least as we know them, so can they go out on a high?
