Arrow Season 6: 10 Major Predictions

8. The Show Struggles With William In The Mix

The theme of Season 6 is 'family', with the main focus of that being the relationship between Oliver and his son, William. Family has always been an integral part of the show, whether it's Oliver's biological family or his nuclear one, but this is taking us into a whole new direction.

It's quite rare for superhero movies and TV shows to showcase the main protagonist as a parent - Ant-Man is probably the best recent example, and that's a completely different tone to Arrow - so there's not much basis to go on. Green Arrow does have a son in the comics, Connor Hawke, but again there's no real comparison here due to the age differences of the children. William is only 12-years-old, so needs Oliver to be a real father figure, while he himself has to juggle that with being Mayor and the Green Arrow.

That's a tricky balance, and one it's easy to see the writers struggling with. An Oliver driven by protecting his son could be interesting, but when the show has to keep going back to a child and their relationship, it's probably not going to be that great to watch.
