Arrow Season 7: 10 Reasons It Should Be The Last

8. Too Many Missteps

Arrow Season 7
The CW

Though Arrow will go down in history as the show that reinvigorated superhero TV and kick-started the iconic Arrowverse, it is far from perfect. Over the course of its run, the show has exhibited some of the absolute best and worst television of the 21st century. In the early days, the good vastly outweighed the bad and, due to this, we could easily overlook any shortcomings that the show may have had.

However, its success quickly became its undoing and unfortunately, the mistakes began to pile up. In the latter half of its run, it allowed itself to become bogged down with soap-operatic storylines, focused on appeasing shippers instead of its core audience and, worst of all, killed off one of the only characters that ever truly mattered.

A lot of this damage is often caused by contrived storylines, where the writers force events to happen unnaturally. This usually ends up hindering what could be a really strong story, and it has happened as recently as Season 6, which finally started to impress us after the Team Arrow civil war nonsense was dropped.

Out of its six seasons, three have been great, two less-than-stellar and one has been so appalling that it fans are still trying to erase it from our memories. So, with the mistakes and missteps threatening to claim half of the show's run, it may be wise for the creative team to end Arrow after Season 7 before the negatives outweigh the positives.
