Arrow Season 7: 2 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Crossing Lines'

2. More Interesting Storylines Were Absent

After two solid episodes that focused on some of Arrow's most intriguing storylines, this one took a turn and decided to give us something different. While most of great elements remained, some of the more interesting ones were taken out.

Aside from Oliver's imprisonment, the three most intriguing storylines this year are undoubtedly the flash-forwards, featuring William and Roy, the rise of the mysterious new Green Arrow and Earth-2 Laurel Lance's road to redemption (which has already been underappreciated this season). Yet, for some reason, 'Crossing Lines' chose to ignore them in favour of a standard plot-of-the-week that just so happened to involve the main villains.

You would think that after one Canary Cry wasn't enough to stop the Silencer last week, Dinah would be sure to bring a second one with her, but for some reason, she took on the mission without even mentioning Black Siren (knowing full-well that she wanted to stop Diaz more than everyone else). Similarly, you would also think that this new vigilante would have caught wind of Diaz's Star City operations by now, but alas, he was nowhere to be seen in the episode.

Even though the episode focused on the main storyline, featured the main characters and saw the return of the Longbow Hunters, it often felt like a typical plot-of-the-week that just didn't have much to offer.
