Arrow Season 7: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Brothers & Sisters'

2. A Sibling Partnership That Really Works

Arrow William Mia Blackstar

Unlike the relationship between siblings Oliver and Emiko Queen, the brother/sister storyline between William Clayton and Mia Smoak proved to be one of the episode's most endearing qualities.

Upon discovering that the mysterious Blackstar was actually his half-sister sister, Mia, William sought answers from Star City 2040's prize cage fighter. Though she didn't want to talk about her troubled past, Oliver's son eventually got through to her as he shared his own story about the issues he had with his parents.

Revealing that he never heard from Oliver or Felicity after moving away from Star City, William opened up about how crushing it was to discover that they actually had another child - a child that they apparently wanted. This caused Mia's hardened exterior to soften as she also opened up, revealing that being the child her parents wanted wasn't all that easy either.

Through their grief and heartache, these unlikely siblings were able to relate to each other in a way that they simply couldn't with anyone else. Their "war stories" of being brought up by Oliver and/or Felicity helped them find some common ground and, in doing so, allowed them to figure out a new way to track down Felicity.

Both Ben Lewis and Katherine McNamara did a great job here, making us feel for the two scorned Queen children and their chemistry suggests that William and Mia may just be the show's next dynamic duo. Not only did they help to give the flash-forwards a more refined purpose, their performances made us want to know even more about them.

Queen children spin-off, anyone?
