Arrow Season 7: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Brothers & Sisters'
Ups...
3. Felicity And Laurel Continue To Shine
When Team Arrow's resident I.T. girl and sultry villainess Black Siren were exchanging sassy insults all the way back in Season 5, the mere idea of these two ever becoming friends was laughable. However, skip two years, throw in a well-executed redemption arc and have this pair find a common goal in a sea of uncertainty and that's exactly what happened.
Following on from the previous episode's reveal that Felicity was pregnant, she was more protective of her family than ever, which is why, upon her discovery that A.R.G.U.S. was working with Ricardo Diaz, she was determined to kill him. Of course, she turned to the one person who wanted him dead just as much as she did: Laurel.
However, Laurel refused to carry out any act of revenge - citing how she actually enjoys her job and would prefer not to be seen as a criminal once more. In doing so, she ended up deducing Felicity's pregnancy and, in a moment that was both hilarious and heart-warming, bought her new friend a lot of pregnancy essentials. This not only highlighted how far the character has come in her journey towards the light, it paved the way for an incredibly touching scene between the pair as she reassured Felicity that she would make an amazing mother that will undoubtedly figure out a way to stop not only Diaz, but all the threats that come her way.
The pair's scenes were brief, but they were some of the episode's most memorable. Once again, the chemistry between Emily Bett Rickards and Katie Cassidy Rodgers is palpable. Together, these two forces just shouldn't work, but with strong writing and two powerhouse performances, the pair of ladies continue to steal the show each time their on screen - no matter how criminally short their scenes are.
