Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 0 Downs From 'Due Process'
1. Unexpected Twists
While Arrow has been consistently strong since returning for its seventh season, that didn't stop the creative team from changing things up to heighten the drama. As the tension in the main storyline increased, the writers threw multiple curveballs - some of which genuinely caught us off-guard.
The remaining fragments of Team Arrow have been hunting Diaz since he disappeared last season and, given that actor Kirk Acevedo is a series regular, we didn't expect him to get caught anytime soon. But he did get caught. Moreover, Laurel managed to make a deal with the FBI, handing them the known criminal in exchange for Oliver's freedom.
However, the even bigger shock came in the episode's closing moments when Oliver discovered that his only friend at Slabside may not be the frightened little wallflower he appears to be. The former vigilante had bonded with the seemingly harmless Stanley, protecting him from the likes of Brick, Ben Turner and Derek Sampson - and when he was thrown in the hole for murdering a guard, Oliver thought he was righting that wrong when he discovered Turner's blood-soaked blade. But one slip of the tongue later and it appears that Stanley did actually murder the guard and possibly framed Turner in the process.
All of these twists, especially the last one, have impacted the pacing of the show significantly and it's going to be fun to see how they change the dynamic inside and outside the walls of Slabside in the weeks to come.
