Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 0 Downs From 'Due Process'

2. Laurel Finally Figures Out Who She Is

Arrow Black Siren Redmption
The CW

When Black Siren first arrived, it was clear that this Earth-2 villain wasn't anything like our Laurel. However, that didn't stop every single person judging her or sizing her up against their beloved Black Canary. Furthermore, when Quentin was killed, even she tried to become Laurel by assuming her Earth-1 doppelganger's identity full-time, becoming the city's District Attorney.

Since then, she has been slowly working her way to the light, trying to figure out how to be a better person. Having her play the good cop role opposite Felicity's bad cop was a bold but brilliant move that highlighted how far she had already come, but this was merely a preview of her role this week.

From her harsh treatment by Oliver, her exclusion from A.R.G.U.S. and her failure securing Oliver's release, the writers threw everything at Laurel in 'Due Process'. But, despite her instincts, she didn't give up - instead, she made a deal with the FBI, securing Oliver's release while taking Diaz off the streets.

Despite the odds, Laurel came through for her former enemies. Just like in her wonderful speech at the courthouse, she didn't take the easy way out and return to her villainous beginnings. She chose the hard way and played the long game. She did the right thing. In doing so, she finally realised that she's not Black Siren anymore. But she isn't their Laurel either. She's whoever she chooses to be, and in 'Due Process', she was a hero.
