Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 1 Down From ‘My Name Is Emiko Queen’

Ups...

The CW

Let's kick things off by taking a look at the episode's secondary story, which saw Lyla and Diggle attempt to get Ricardo Diaz to spill information about the mysterious Dante. As we saw in the season's first half, the internal issues within A.R.G.U.S. were causing the pair a lot of stress and, as a result, they were willing to turn to one of their biggest enemies for help.

Diaz refused to help them and, instead, spoke about how much he was enjoying his new surroundings at A.R.G.U.S. which, given his character, wasn't all that surprising. What was surprising was that the unannounced arrival of the Deputy Director and Diaz's refusal to co-operate coincided with a deal that Diggle was attempting to make with Diaz and, as a result, he fabricated a story about Lyla's intention to revive the Ghost Initiative.

For anyone unaware, The Ghost Initiative is a snazzy new codename for Task Force X which is, of course, better known as the Suicide Squad. While the new name could be down to DC's refusal to let them use the Suicide Squad title, it doesn't matter because that won't affect the adventure at hand. In its earlier years, Arrow's iteration of Task Force X provided us with some amazing escapades and now, with a loose canon like Diaz as part of the operation, things are bound to get a whole lot crazier.

It may have played second fiddle this week but the story surrounding Diaz and his ties to the Longbow Hunters remains the season's main narrative and will once again take the reins next week when the newly formed/re-formed Ghost Initiative/Task Force X/Suicide Squad are deployed on their very first mission.
