Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Emerald Archer'
3. Honouring The Past
There really is no point in honouring the past without honouring what made it so great, so it was refreshing to see that Arrow's 150th episode was, for the most part, well aware of that. Thanks in no small part to the documentary format, 'Emerald Archer' provided us with the trip down memory lane that we were all hoping for. From new camera angles of old footage to newly-filmed interview segments, it was rife with heartfelt little tributes to the show's glory days.
The interview segments allowed us to see the return of Arrow legends Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and Thea Queen (Willa Holland) as well as some of the show's most beloved recurring characters like Sin (Bex Taylor-Klaus) and Season 5 vigilante Rory Regan/Ragman (Joe Dinicol), while also making time to feature former Arrow characters like Legends of Tomorrow's Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) and The Flash's Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). Furthermore, other characters received tributes in the form of previously unseen footage, such as the original Laurel Lance/Black Canary and Helena Bertinelli's Huntress.
However, it didn't stop with the visuals as the plot itself was so closely connected with the past that it was impossible to go more than two minutes without thinking about it - thanks to the vigilante hunter himself, Chimera, who had collected the masks of Huntress and Ragman, suggesting that he may have harmed them.
All of this ensured that, while many important present-day events occurred, this episode was as much about honouring the past as it was about embracing the future, and thankfully, it all went hand-in-hand.
