Arrow Season 7: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Star City Slayer'

1. Dark Days For Dinah

Despite the horror-themed setup and the whodunit undercurrents of 'Star City Slayer', the episode primarily focused on the more emotional character journeys that we've seen glimpses of this season. One of said journeys belonged to Dinah Drake who, for the majority of the season, has struggled to reconcile her former role as Black Canary with her current role as SCPD Captain. However, that struggled intensified this week... in more ways than one.

Unable to process the realisation that everyone was now aware of the fact that she was a former vigilante, Dinah was questioning her position as SCPD Captain, understandably afraid that some of her peers may no longer see her as the brilliant police officer that she has always been. But after some reassurance from The Flash's Captain Singh, she eventually began to accept her new dual identity.

However, the dark future teased in the flash-forwards came a lot sooner than expected for Dinah as she ended up having her throat slashed by Stanley. It was, without a doubt, one of the few genuinely jaw-dropping moments this season and reminded us that real stakes still exist in the Arrowverse.

Although Curtis managed to save her life, it's pretty clear where this story is going. Dinah's future will now become her present and she will no longer have to juggle her role as SCPD Captain with her vigilante life as Black Canary because her injury will render her unable to perform the Canary Cry - seemingly bringing her time as that particular crime-fighter to an end. Moving forward, it's going to be intriguing to see how she deals with this new chapter of her life and how it will pave the way for Star City's dark future.

Now, for the negative...
