Arrow Season 7 Finale: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'You Have Saved This City'

There is no denying that the Arrow finale started off incredibly promising. Picking up right where last week's encounter left off, Team Arrow were fugitives and on the run from the law. They were then immediately sucked into Emiko's plot to destroy the city and, upon receiving back-up from Laurel, Curtis and Ben Turner, decided to stop her once and for all.

An edge-of-seat intro that just didn't stop, the finale continued to up the ante during its first 15 minutes, appearing to set the stage for a major payoff. Unfortunately, that didn't happen as everything was quickly wrapped up before the episode hit its halfway mark - with Oliver overcoming Emiko easily and Team Arrow's collective name being cleared off-screen. As a result, all of that momentum that it had built up fizzled out instantly.

From there, quick cuts, choppy editing and impossibly quick dialogue exchanges took away from the importance of anything that followed, as it was clear that the writers had chosen to sacrifice the show's current storylines in an effort to have an unnecessarily-long 15 minute send-off to Felicity. In doing so, they sacrificed the integrity of the episode as it ultimately failed to bring about a worthy conclusion to the season-centric stories.
