Arrow Season 7 Finale: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'You Have Saved This City'
1. Emiko Was Wasted
Perhaps no part of the finale was as disappointing as the underwhelming conclusion to Emiko's grand plans.
After spending the last six years plotting revenge on Oliver Queen, the leader of the Ninth Circle attempted to destroy her brother by destroying his city and, although that plan failed, she had no problem taking him out the old fashioned way. However, she was unable to do that because, for some reason, Oliver was conveniently able to overpower and outsmart her every move.
To top it all off, he ended up getting through to her rather easily and, when she considered relenting, she was immediately killed by an as-of-yet unimportant member of the Circle called Beatrice.
Nothing about Emiko's reign of terror has been easy and, yet in the season finale (when the stakes are supposed to be at their highest), Oliver overcame her with complete ease, while she became nothing more than a footnote in a storyline that she was responsible for.
Emiko Queen deserved better. Sea Shimooka deserved better. Season 7 deserved better.
