Arrow Season 7 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

7. What's Next For Roy?

While the season finale was all about goodbyes, there was one character that subtly told us that he may not be a regular part of the show next season. That character, is none other, than Roy Harper.

Telling the team how he feels the need to atone for his recent sins (killing two innocent people as the result of his bloodlust), he revealed that he can no longer stay in Star City nor can he immediately return to Thea. While that clearly suggests that he's going to pack up his things again, it shouldn't come as a major shock, given that he only showed up in the present-day narrative a few weeks ago. However, it's only one of two apparent departures for the character.

In the flash-forward storyline, future Roy was part of the conversation in which the veteran vigilantes agreed that they would go on the run to take any public scrutiny away from the next generation of heroes and, as a result, will likely be absent for the majority of next season's flash-forwards.

With Roy (like Felicity) now exiting both of the storylines that he was involved in, it's looking likely that Arrow veteran Colton Haynes will be leaving the show as a series regular which, considering we were just getting used to having him around again, is rather upsetting.
