Arrow Season 7: What Does The Ending To ‘Lost Canary’ Really Mean?
1. Black Siren Becomes Black Canary
When the flash-forward narrative returned in 'Lost Canary', few of us could have expected that it would have ended with one of the most genuinely shocking moments in Arrow history. However, that's exactly what happened when Mia Smoak found herself in hot water, only to be saved by future Laurel - who was dressed in Earth-1 Laurel's Black Canary costume.
This, of course, suggests that she does indeed follow the example set by her fellow Canaries in 'Lost Canary' and that she manages to model her life after the original Laurel's, becoming the Black Canary in the process.
The leader of her own troop of Canaries, Laurel revealed to Mia that she was sent by Dinah to protect Felicity's daughter from getting herself killed. The reveal really drove home Dinah's point and proved that, if Laurel can overcome her darkness to become a Canary, then Mia is capable of it too.
The only question is, did Laurel arrive from another part of town or has she spent the last 20 years being Earth-2's Black Canary?
Undoubtedly an incredibly fulfilling moment for all of the fans that have campaigned for the redemption of Black Siren after the original Laurel was senselessly killed off, it highlighted how integral Laurel Lance (no matter which version) is to the Black Canary movement and, in doing so, proved that "once you let the darkness inside" it really can come out.
