Arrow Season 7: What ‘Star City Slayer’s Ending Really Means

2. Young William Has Left The Show

Arrow Season 7 William Felicity

The past two episodes of Arrow have focused on William's return to the fold. However, Oliver's young son hasn't exactly had the smoothest of transitions back into life with his vigilante father.

It didn't take long for us to realise that he clearly struggling with some issues of his own - which was illustrated when he opened up to Zoe Ramirez about his life at school and when he revealed to Felicity that he had been expelled. While the former (and the flash-forwards) suggests that his internal struggles could have something to do with his sexuality, 'Star City Slayer' primarily focused on his resentment towards Oliver and Felicity for sending him away in the first place. As a result, they ultimately took it upon themselves to send him away once more - this time with his grandparents. Unfortunately, it appears that this departure may be a little more permanent than the last one.

In the future, William harbours that same resentment towards the pair for "abandoning" him. While we initially thought that this was down to the fact that they never reached out to him after Oliver returned from prison, it appears that it has more to do with his new set up with his grandparents. If that it the case, then this likely means that the younger iteration of William will no longer appear on the show - allowing the feelings of abandonment from the flash-forwards to take form.
