Arrow Season 8 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Reset'

Ups...

5. Quentin Lance's Return

Arrow Season 8 Quentin Lance Oliver Queen
The CW

Before we delve into things, can we just talk for a moment about how great it was to have Paul Blackthorne back on the show? Yes, the Arrow vet returned in 'Reset' as Quentin Lance mysteriously returned from the dead and had us all - but none more so than Oliver and Laurel - questioning whether he was ever shot by Ricardo Diaz.

In a matter of seconds it was clear that Blackthorne - who hasn't been a regular part of the show since the Season 6 finale - hadn't lost a step. Slotting back in with ease, he shared some powerful scenes with both Katie Cassidy and Stephen Amell - which is hardly surprising given that he produced his best work when around those two.

Even if it was only for an episodic vision, having Quentin back just reminded us viewers of how much the show desperately missed him. A parental figure to Laurel, Oliver and just about everyone else, he had both a warmth and a well of wisdom that the show has lacked since - but those wonderful attributes were on full display in 'Reset'.

Welcome back Paul, we've missed you.
