Arrow Season 8 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Purgatory'

2. Mia's Behaviour

Arrow Oliver Queen Mia Smoak
The CW

"Clearly your daughter," Laurel Lance said with sarcastic tone a few episodes back as she looked at Oliver, referring to Mia Smoak. And, well, she wasn't wrong.

The moment in which Mia found out that Oliver was destined to die in the Crisis she predictably reacted by pushing him away, throwing a tantrum and attempting to call the shots on a mission that was run by far more experienced heroes.

There should be something sweet in fact that she reacted exactly like her father does when he goes into one of his blind rages, but that wasn't one of Oliver's greatest qualities as a character (and one that the writers relied far too heavily on for convenience).

The fact that she was simply heartbroken at the prospect of losing him again was great, but it would have come off as more authentic if she hadn't wasted this reaction time and time again over the past seven episodes. And this forced conflict has gotten so repetitive now that is just drags the episode down.
