Arrow Season 8 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Purgatory'

4. A New Direction For Roy

Arrow Roy Harper
The CW

The decision to amputate Roy Harper's right arm came as something of a shock for a show that tends to play it safe as much as Arrow does and, at this point in time, it's probably one that didn't really need to happen. That being said, it was one that made comic book fans sit up and pay attention.

Of course, fans will know that in the comics (and Young Justice), the character eventually loses his arm in battle and is forced to adopt a prosthetic arm instead, so it's highly likely that we'll be seeing this take place at some point over the remaining three episodes.

Though some may not take too kindly to the decision, it's worth remembering that Colton Haynes isn't a series regular this season, so he likely won't be taking part in much of Crisis On Infinite Earths (if at all). With that in mind, this was an effective way of ensuring that Roy remains out of the picture during the Crisis and one that pays tribute to the comics at the same time.

Don't worry, Arsenal will rise again before the show comes to an end.
