Arrow Season 8 Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Welcome To Hong Kong'

2. THAT Ending

Arrow Season 8 Episode 2 Ending
The CW

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who wasn't shocked by 'Welcome To Hong Kong's conclusion, as Lyla Michaels stepped out of a vehicle and willingly handed over Dr. Wong to The Monitor - revealing that the pair were in cahoots all along. The question is: Why?

Of course, Lyla wants to save the multiverse just as much as everybody else, but her marriage to John and friendship with Oliver complicates things now as they're beginning to doubt the cosmic being known as Mar Novu. The real complication, however, is Lyla's burgeoning friendship with Laurel as anything could happen when the emotionally fragile Black Canary discovers that her new ally is working with the man who may have been able to stop the destruction of her home.

Aside from all that juicy conflict, the thing that made this really jaw-dropping is the fact that we know Lyla is destined to become Harbinger (just like in the comics), and it's nothing short of amazing to see Audrey Marie Anderson finally getting the chance to get involved in the more fantastical elements of the Arrowverse.

We'll have to wait to see how this all pans out, but as for now, consider this writer incredibly intrigued.
