Arrow's Main Villains Ranked From Worst To Best

Season four's big bad certainly presents a change of tone for the series. Having largely faced grounded foes such as mob bosses and the occasional assassin up until this point, Team Arrow's first real supernatural adversary comes in the form of the sadistically charismatic, aptly named Damien Darhk.

As revealed in season three by Ra's al Ghul, Damien Darhk was once a member of the League of Assassins, who stole a sample of the Lazarus Pit and fled after his desire to be leader was unrequited. Years later, he appears in Star City with mystical powers and a diabolical plan: to destroy the world with nuclear weapons, himself and his army of 'ghosts' safe from harm in a virtual utopia deep underground.

Oliver and the team find out that Darhk's powers come from a mysterious idol imbued with dark energy. When their first attempt at destroying it fails, Damien, in an act of revenge, kills Laurel Lance, aka Black Canary. Even without his powers further down the line, the League-trained warrior is a merciless hand-to-hand combatant, giving the Green Arrow a formidable fight in the series finale.

When Oliver proves victorious, he is forced to break his 'no killing' rule, deciding to put Damien Darhk down there and then to rid the world of his evil.
