In theory, Batman vs a werewolf sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately, when ink was put to paper, the result was less than stellar.

The story revolves around Anthony Romulus, an Olympic-level athlete. Not content with his performance, he approaches rogue chemist Dr Milo, who provides him with a mix of steroids and wolf estrogen, which he takes without hesitation. He finds immediate success and wealth, with the spinoff effect of turning him into a werewolf, who Milo then blackmails into crime.

The main complaint about this episode is that Batman seems incompetent compared to his usual crime-fighting. When first confronted with evidence of the wolf, his conclusion is a 'mugger in a werewolf mask.' Why? By this point in his adventures he had dealt with Man-Bat, Penguin, Kiler Croc, and Tygrus (a cat/human hybrid.) Why would he discount the possibility of a human/wolf mix?

Why would he blindly wander into a meeting with Romulus without scouting for traps? Why did he have such a hard time fighting the werewolf considering some of the other brawls we had already seen?

There are a couple interesting things in the episode. 'Romulus' is a neat reference to the myth of Romulus and Remus being raised by wolves, and Milo would end up playing a role in the release of Doomsday in a Justice League Unlimited episode over a decade later.

Consider this episode non-essential unless you really want to see the origin of Dr Milo.
