Battlestar Galactica: 10 Most Disturbing Episodes
7. Occupation
This episode opens hard and it closes harder. We first see Saul Tigh imprisoned by the Cylons and now missing his right eye. Bitterly, he is released to rejoin with his companions, Galen Tyrol and Samuel Anders. The three of them have formed the New Caprica Resistance against their Cylon overlords. It's been four months since the Cylons arrived and the fleet jumped away. Four months since they were abandoned here.
We see the state that humanity has been reduced too, living in fear, continuously rounded up and oppressed. Leoben Conoy has Starbuck as his personal prisoner and he's trying to convince her that she should accept her imprisonment. While the grim reality plays out behind them, we're reminded of the events of the web-series Resistance, where Duck's wife Nora is killed by the Cylons during a raid of a temple.
In retaliation, Duck has agreed to join the New Caprica Police and there he detonates an explosive, killing the various new recruits to the force, himself and a number of Cylons. While those Cylons will be resurrected, the humans that were willing to collaborate with them cannot be replaced and the message was clear sent. But stooping to that level, to send a man willing to die and kill everyone around him?
In reality, we know that as suicide bombing, a heinous act of cowardice in a war of terror. And this is what our heroes have sunk too.
