Battlestar Galactica's 15 Biggest Plot Twists And Reveals

14. The Truth About Aaron Doral (The Miniseries)

Given that a big part of Battlestar Galactica is that an artificial enemy has evolved to replicate humans, it’s no surprise that a number of the items on this list are to do with discovering that certain characters are in fact, Cylons.

As the miniseries begins, Aaron Doral is a slightly annoying public relations executive coordinating Commander Adama’s retirement ceremony. When the Colonies are destroyed in the initial attack, Doral is amongst the survivors.

But when Gaius Baltar needs to divert attention from himself, he picks the hapless Doral, seemingly at random, to accuse of being a Cylon agent. Doral desperately maintains his innocence, but his cries fall on deaf ears. He is eventually left behind at an abandoned space station.

In the closing moments of the miniseries, we get the twist—Doral is indeed a Cylon, and by what appears to be a complete coincidence, Baltar chose correctly (later episodes imply that there might be more to it than that).

Doral was never a major character, so this outing is not as dramatic as some others (one other in particular, which took place in the same scene), but it is still a surprising and cool little revelation.
