Batwoman: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

Who became Gotham City’s greatest hero in Batwoman’s debut season?

It's a strange time for fans of The CW's Batwoman. With the season recently wrapping its run, they should be looking forward to what comes next for the Arrowverse series when the second season arrives in January 2021, but many of them are still reeling from the discovery that Ruby Rose has officially hung up the red wig. And with that, Greg Berlanti and co. are on the hunt for the next Scarlet Knight.

However, we shouldn't let the uncertainty surrounding Rose's sudden departure take away from the show's solid debut offering. Though it did struggle to find its footing early on in its run, it turned things around following Crisis On Infinite Earths and produced the best back half of any Arrowverse season - Arrow aside - this year.

Of course, that wouldn't have been possible without its ensemble of characters, most of whom created a unique dynamic on-screen and managed to keep viewers invested throughout the whole season. That said, not all of them pulled their weight.

With that in mind, let's get to know Batwoman's line-up of heroes and villains a little better and, while we're at it, rank them.

10. Tommy Elliot/Hush

It's hard to deny that the sight of Tommy Elliot in his Hush get-up is pretty sick. No, it's not perfect but given that we're on a TV budget here, it's pretty damn awesome - and the fact that they managed to come up with a unique origin story for him that seamlessly fit into the whole Alice/Mouse skin debacle is actually quite admirable.

That said, the Tommy Elliot character isn't even remotely engaging and the reason for that is down to the simple fact that he's nothing like his comic book counterpart. No, this isn't some enraged comic book fan moaning about Batwoman's deviation from the source material - because occasionally that can work - it's simply pointing out that this Tommy lacks any of the depth that made the original Hush such a compelling villain.

Yeah, he was intentionally written as a henchman for the primary villains and, yeah, he works in that capacity, but to think what he could have been if he had been saved for a future Big Bad role instead.
