Batwoman: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

9. Catherine Hamilton-Kane

Batwoman Season 1
The CW

It's hard to believe that Elizabeth Anweis was ever a series regular on the show because Batwoman did so little with her in the first half of the season that Catherine Hamilton-Kane rarely, if ever, felt like a main character.

Showing up in maybe one or two scenes per episode, all she did was spout some cliché lines that made her sound incredibly one-dimensional. Furthermore, all the emphasis placed upon her secret was essentially deflated before we even found out what that secret actually was because she wasn't portrayed as having even the slightest of depths in the lead up to the reveal.

However, that all began to change as the show approached the midseason finale because, as Catherine's world fell apart, she began to exhibit more humane qualities. And the incredible mother-daughter chemistry Anweis shared with Nicole Kang in the pair's final scene together was an example of what we could have had.

Catherine did a really awful thing by convincing Jacob that Beth had died all those years ago, but she redeemed herself with her heroic sacrifice for her daughter. Unfortunately, the character work in between could have been a little stronger.
