Batwoman Season 1 Review: 9 Ups & 5 Downs

2. Ruby Rose Is A Strong Lead

Batwoman Crisis on Infinite Earths

Yes, I said it... and yes I stand by it.

When Ruby Rose was initially cast as the iconic DC Comics character in the Elseworlds crossover, it caused division among fans who didn't think she was right for the part. While she certainly looked the part as Batwoman, it still begged the question as to whether or not she could bring the grit of Kate Kane to life. The answer to that question is: Yes.

As with any actor, she takes some time to settle into the role, finding out what works and what doesn't in the beginning, but by the time you're a few episodes in, Rose has no problem proving to you that she is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Kate Kane.

The broodiness of the character is something she captures instantly and that lends itself nicely to her heroic alter-ego, allowing her to portray Batwoman as the larger-than-life vigilante that she is.

Some didn't want to give Rose a chance, but so far those of us who did have been very, very impressed. Yes, she is Batwoman.
