Batwoman Season 1 Review: 9 Ups & 5 Downs

1. A Strong Debut

With Batwoman's season finale in the books, the show's maiden voyage has officially come to an end. No, it never got the chance to end the way that we'd all hoped, but its post-Crisis surge resulted in a ton of episodes that were so edge-of-seat that any of them would have served as fitting season-closers.

With the first season officially in the rear-view mirror it gives us a chance to look back and appreciate just how far it has come in such a short space of time... which is pretty much one of the points of this review.

A strong first season is what ultimately positions a show as a force-to-be-reckoned with. Arrow's debut offering was one of the series' best, while The Flash's is still the Arrowverse's overall best outing. Batwoman followed in their footsteps, overcoming a number of teething issues to present itself as a worthy addition to a star-studded shared universe.

The truth that nobody wants to admit is that, when it was on the money, Batwoman's first season is an example of the very best that the Arrowverse has to offer. And that, more than anything, makes it a worthy TV debut for this legendary comic book heroine.
