Better Call Saul: 10 Best Episodes So Far
1. Bad Choice Road
The second to last of season 5 was simply stunning. There has never been an episode quite like it as Kim tells Jimmy that whatever happened to him in the desert, she won't judge him for. He stops short of telling her everything but they both get the sense that nothing can take them apart now.
When Jimmy & Mike finally get out of the desert after the events of Bagman, they are faced with making sure that their story is kept straight so Lalo doesn't find out what happened. Mike and Jimmy's experience almost bonds them as Mike gains a newfound respect for him.
The final scenes of the episode are as tense as any that have come to pass in the entire show. When Lalo suspects something else other than what he was told happened when he finds Jimmy's car riddled with bullet holes, he instructs Nacho to drive him to Jimmy & Kim's apartment to confront them.
As Mike keeps watch on the situation from the opposite roof-top with his sniper rifle trained on the apartment, Lalo shows up and starts to unfold all of the information that he thinks he knows. Watching Kim talk down a very suspicious Lalo and thinking that this may be her last moments on the show were just terrifying, and just as easily as he arrived Lalo leaves, appeased by her explanation of what happened to Jimmy.
Never has Better Call Saul began so ruggedly and finished so full of tension and unpredictability. The performances were perfect and the crafted final sequence was mesmerising to behold.
By playing on the unknown fates of both Kim & Lalo, Better Call Saul had fans petrified that one of them was about to go. Thank the lord neither of them did.
