Better Call Saul: 10 Best Episodes So Far
2. Bagman
Bagman is one of those rare episodes in Better Call Saul where Mike and Saul are actually together for longer than a conversation. It is these episodes that excite fans the most because of the duality of the show and how their worlds frequently cross but don't really collide. Well, they collided here, big-time.
When Jimmy goes to collect Lalo's bail money from the Salamanca cousins, his car is ambushed by gunmen who are swiftly taken out by a sniper. Fearing this is his last, Jimmy hides until Mike comes to check on him, revealing himself to be the sniper.
The only problem is the vehicles have taken such hits that it leaves them in the middle of the desert without transport and bags full of money.
When the two main characters of the series spend their episode together walking out of a desert and drinking urine, it takes a special cast and crew to get it right. Fortunately, these are the best that TV has to offer and the shootout at the end of the episode is simply stunning to witness.
On top of that, Kim meeting Lalo for the first time is a staggering meeting of minds that plays out like a chess game. Jimmy's absence has Kim stark worried about him and her risk in seeing Lalo is negated by her love, so she demands answers from a very scary man who admires her strength. All in all, it is enthralling television.
