Better Call Saul: 10 Breaking Bad Easter Eggs You Totally Missed

9. Mentioning Belize

Whenever things got hairy for Saul and the gang during the original run of Breaking Bad, the phrase of sending someone to 'Belize' was often used by the eccentric lawyer. A codeword for getting someone to 'take a vacation', aka be removed from Walt and Jesse's drug empire, Belize becomes something of a catchphrase between Walt and Saul when someone's about to end up on the wrong side of something messy.

In the season one finale of Better Call Saul, Jimmy is shown visiting a care home during his foray into elder law and playing a round of bingo with them. Whilst calling out the balls, he mentions:

“B as in Belize. Beautiful place. So I’ve heard. I would love to go there but let’s face it, that’s never going to happen.”

Belize is hardly the most common place in the world, and certainly not the place that immediately springs to mind when someone sees the letter 'B'. All audiences are left to assume therefore is that Jimmy has a real love for the Central America country, and that this is a subtle detail left behind by Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould and Bob Odenkirk.
