Better Call Saul: 10 Scenes From Breaking Bad That Need Expanding

10. Nebraska-Bound

As Breaking Bad neared its climax, Saul Goodman feared for his life. Following the murder of Hank and Steve, Walt employed Saul€™s €˜disappearer€™ (aka Ed the Extractor) to set him up with a new life. Saul had a similar idea, winding up with Walt at the extractor€™s secret hideout, the basement of a vacuum cleaner repair shop in Somewhere, USA. Walt does his best to convince Saul to join him in his final march towards revenge but Saul turns him down, saying he€™s no longer a lawyer or €˜the man'. He€™s Mister Low-Profile and his best case scenario sees him as the manager of a Cinnabon in Omaha. Addressing Saul€™s wide-open future is one of the more compelling expansions the upcoming series offers. It seems obvious that Saul€™s plans to lay low will be less than successful in some fashion or another but exactly what and how are intriguing questions. Is he Jimmy McGill again? Content with life as just another €œdouche bag with a job?" Content until what? The Extractor gets caught and the feds come his way? Or maybe Saul€™s old connections with Gus and Mike come back to haunt him and the cartel drags him back to his role as America€™s greatest €˜criminal€™ lawyer. Shedding light on Saul€™s post-Heisenberg life will give a greater depth to the world created in Breaking Bad and help to flesh out the long-term effects of the rise and fall of Walter White. Further, watching Saul toil away in a shopping mall or Applebee€™s would be a fine and entertaining sight to behold.
