Better Call Saul: 10 Theories For How It All Ends
7. We Finally Get Insight Into Gus Fring's Origins
We know how Gus Fring's story ends: A major antagonist in Breaking Bad, he dies in the fourth season as a victim of his own need for revenge against cartel boss Hector Salamanca. Knowing that, he's definitely surviving Better Call Saul.
But what does the spin-off still have in store for him? The final season needs to tie up his war with Lalo, but that's about it, really. One way the writers could keep us on our toes is to use these final episodes to explore Gus's origins, if only in brief.
After eleven seasons of TV, it's baffling how little we actually know about the Chicken Man, his past in Chile barely hinted at outside of the odd reference to how much power he once held.
Going into Better Call Saul's final stretch, it would sure make for a brilliant decision to share some flashbacks to Gus's time in Chile, perhaps shedding light on his connections to the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinchot, why Don Eladio deemed him too powerful to kill, and his relationship with his old partner, Max.
Gus Fring's mystery has always been part of his allure, but it would still be nice to gain some fresh insight into his past.
